2 Day Canyoneering: Camping

CenterFocus offers multi-day guided canyoneering adventures in Arizona that are exceptional. Tucked away in the remote wilderness of the Sierra Ancha, accessible from either Phoenix or Sedona, is an area where saguaro cactus is only miles from high country pine forest. It is filled with crystal clear creeks and rivers, and the environment blends everything amazing into one of the most pristine diverse places in the state. The entire region seems alive, and is a miracle of the desert that produces deep pools, natural waterslides, magnificent waterfalls and is mixed with pine forests, cactus, and beautiful multi-colored stone. These trips will bring you into some of the most remote places in Arizona, and into the heart of the canyon experience.

The first day, our guides begin with a comprehensive ground school training and instruction on how to use the equipment which we have provided before dropping into our first technical adventure involving either Hog and/or First Water canyons, both are true gems of the remote Ancha. At night we provide and set up all camping accommodations and cozy sleeping setups under skies so clear that the Milky Way appears as a cloud in the sky. We cook dinner hot, sometimes over the campfire with traditional Dutch oven cooking.

On the second day, wake up to a hot cooked breakfast with French pressed coffee, then we will prepare a lunch before heading out on the next adventure. Snacks and drinks are all included. Our guides then assess canyon conditions and will drop in on a canyon with multiple waterfalls, involving wet rappels, pool slides and some light current, while traveling deep into the earth. Surrounded by big walls and tremendous free standing spires, it is a gourmet adventure for sure.

These trips bring couples and families together, allowing you time somewhere beautiful and quiet to reset the mind, while experiencing that healthy feeling that comes from pushing ourselves a little bit and succeeding at a challenge. It seems to empower people giving them a sense of well-being when back at camp, and when you combine the adrenaline during the day with the beauty of the night sky, a cold drink and a campfire, you simply cannot go wrong.

All of our guides are experts in this area, one permanently lives in this region. All guides are qualified Wilderness First Responders through the Wilderness Medical Institute of the National Outdoor Leadership School. We are permitted by the US Forest Service in all of our areas.

For these trips, we will meet you on the North side of Roosevelt Lake at the Rocking X Ranch, and directions will be provided upon reservation.

This same trip/itinerary can be run, with overnight cabin accommodations at our nearby, private, 27-acre ranch.
